He is credited with inventing the rodeo event called bulldogging. also known as steer wrestling. Being the most famous black rodeo performer who ever lived. he was the first black cowboy inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame. That occurred in 1971. almost 40 years after his death. The nations only touring black rodeo is named the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo.
