Annotation: Born on July 18, 1918, in the South African village of Mvezo, Nelson Mandela has led a life devoted to achieving social equality through political activism. After being imprisoned for 27 years for his activism, Mandela led negotiations with then-president F.W. de Klerk that led to the abolishment of apartheid in 1991. Three years later, Mandela was elected the first black president of South Africa. As president and after his term, he continued to address racism, poverty, and injustice in his own country and around the world. Celebrate the legacy of this great leader with this Nelson Mandela square wall calendar.
