The Nubian village of Tutholo has a long tradition of producing the finest lyre players in the region. This tradition goes back thousands of years. Many young boys in the village want to become musicians. but only those with exceptional interest and talent are selected.Girls may also play the lyre. but in traditional ceremonies only boys and men are permitted to play the sacred songs.Today one of the elders begins to teach Nalu his first lesson. It is hoped that Nalu will follow in his fathers footsteps and one day lead in the ceremonies and bring great respect to the village.
