'The movie ''Widow'' based on a true story is a thrilling; exciting and gripping expose on the debasing; dangerous; and sometimes inhuman treatment widows in Africa are subjected to as imposed upon them by some ancient and primitive customs. The movie actually showcases the far-reaching consequences of these activities on the individual; the home and the society as a whole.

The story is of a middle-aged woman whose husband is murdered by his elder brother in quite sinister circumstances in a bid to take over his pharmaceutical company.

The woman is accused of her husband's murder by his family and is subjected to intense emotional and mental torture to prove her innocence. The precarious situation she found herself left her to the merciless hands of tradition; which rendered her homeless; penniless; forcing her to become a second wife to her husband's murder; and almost snatched her beloved children away from her. The battle seemed like one that could not be won and she was forced to become a fugitive in her own country...
